Hernandez
Senior Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman Street, Rm. 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re: Kit Carson County, Heintges Pit, File No. M-91-069
Dear Mr. Hernandez:
This office has reviewed your June 19, 1991 correspondence concerning the
above proposed project.
A search of the Colorado Inventory of Cultural Resources has indicated that
there are no known sites located within the boundaries of this project.
However, the location of this mining operation is near a water source which
makes it highly probable that prehistoric and historic sites could be
found in the area. If there have been no previous land altering activities
on the parcel, we recommend that a cultural resource survey be undertaken
to determine if eligible cultural resources will be impacted by mining
activities. This is done in accordance with the Colorado Register of
Historic Places Act (24-80.1).
If we may be of further assistance please contact Jim Green at 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~ ~~
JJam_es E.
