i• <br />SECTION 2.04.8 <br />CLJMATOLOGICAL INFORMATION <br />~ • <br />• <br />Introduction <br />Western Fuels Colorado, A Limited Liability Company (WFC), is renewing Permit No. G81-008. <br />WFC's New Horizon 1 & 2 Mine is the old Peabody Coal Company Nuda &Nuda East Mine <br />which operated under the same permit. The New Horizon 1 & 2 mine areas (formerly called the <br />Nuda and Nuda East mine areas respectively) are being repermitted. <br />In preparation to reopen the Nuda Mine (now the New Horizon Mine) after a period of temporary <br />cessation, WFC applied for and received an emission permit from the Colorado Department of <br />Health (CDOH), Air Pollution Control Division. A copy of the emission permit is attached at the <br />end of this section. <br />No dimatological data is available at the New Horizon Mine. A National Weather Service Station <br />does exist in the town of Norwood, Colorado approximately 10 miles southeast of the New <br />Horizon Mine. The Norwood station has a record of predpitation and temperature for a period of <br />52 years and 51 years, respectively. A second National Weather Service Station e~asts in the <br />town of Uravan, approximately 8 miles northwest of the mine. The Uravan station has a record <br />of precipitation and temperature for a period of 26 years and 25 years, respectively. <br />ClimatokxJipl Strrrrrrary <br />Inducted below, for background purposes, is the Narrative Climatological Summary for Grand <br />Junction, Colorado. <br />"Located in a large mountain valley, the junction of the Colorado and Gunnison <br />Rivers, on the west slope of the Rockies, Grand Junction has a dimate marked <br />by the wide seasonal range usual to interior localities at this latitude. Thanks, <br />however, to the protective topography of the vidnity, sudden and severe <br />weather changes are very infrequent. Elevation of the valley floor ranges from <br />2.04.8 - 1 <br />
