Schedule <br />Revegetation is scheduled immediately following redistribution of soil. This will normally <br />be during the fall between August 15 and November I5. <br />Seed Mia/Seedina Methods <br />A basic grass and forb seed mixture will be used in all azeas revegetated after reclamation <br />(Table 5-6). The goal of the herbaceous seeding will be to establish a vegetation cover <br />adequate to control erosion and minimize weedy species establishment prior to flnal <br />development of the property. In areas where crops were grown prior to mining, crops <br />may be re-established post-mine if this is consistent with the commercial land use of the <br />property. Grasses and forbs will be planted using drill seeding and/or broadcast means. In <br />the case of broadcast seeding, the seeding rates will be two times the rates shown in Table <br />5-6. Any sops seeded will be drill seeded at rates consistent with recommendations of <br />the local agricultural extension service. No woody plants are anticipated to be planted in <br />the revegetated area, with the exception of those in the terrace reclamation plan. <br />Woody plant species will not be re-established outside of the North Pit azea. Woody plant <br />species to be established on the North Pit reclamation may include: pinyon pine, Utah <br />juniper, serviceberry, Gamble's oak, true mountain mahogany, Fremont barberry, Oregon <br />grape, black chokecherry, skunkbrush sumac, antelope bitterbrush, big sagebrush and <br />rabbitbrush. <br />Mulch <br />Mulching will consist of crimping hay or straw into the soil at the same time seeding takes <br />place. Mulch will be used at the rate of 2.0 tons per acre. Slopes greater than 3h to lv <br />will be netted or hydromulched with tackifier to control erosion. Straw crimping with <br />standazd farming equipment will occur on flat azeas. <br />Irrigation <br />No irrigation is anticipated to be employed during revegetation at the Cazbon Junction <br />Mine. <br />Weed and Pest Control <br />Noxious weeds will be controlled on the revegetated azeas of the mine site. Upon <br />identification of an infestation, OEI will implement control measures. Control measures <br />will be implemented based on recommendations of the Local NRCS or agricultural <br />extension office.
