the area for other purposes.
The Meeker Bureau of Land Management recommended seed mixture for this site is as follows:
blue bunch wheat grass (secar) 2 16/acre,
slender wheat grass (primar) 2 Ib/acre,
big blue grass (sherman) I Ib/acre,
Canby blue grass (canbar) l bl/acre,
Mountain biome (bromar) 1 Ib/acre.
The Soil Conservation Service recommends a slightly different mix as follows:
blue bunch wheat grass (secar) 1.5 Ib/acre,
slender wheat grass (primar) 1.5 Ib/acre,
big blue grass (sherman) 1.5 Ib/acre,
Canby blue grass (canbar) I.5 lb/acre,
Mountain biome (bromar) I.5 Ib/acre.
The SCS mixture will be used For all reseeding. Soil bed preparation on the road and staging
areas will include ripping to loosen soil The seed will be broadcast on the surface and tilled
(harrowed) prior to placement of the landscape matt The seed rate will be I S pounds of pure
live seed per acre for hand broadcast seed or 7.5 pounds/acre for drilled seed. Ilecmisc the recd
selected is compatible with soil and moisture conditions at the site, no soil supplements or
irrigation will be required. Reseeding will be performed in the spring (before April 30) or in the
fall (after October I) when soil moisture is adequate for seed gemination. The seeded areas will
be monitored for revegetation after the conclusion of reclamation activities. Livestock grazing
will be litniled on the site until revegetation has stabilized the slopes and re-established a
sustainable growid cover. No shrubs or trees will be planted at the site because the natural
succession of the native plant conununity will eventually result in establishment of Gatnbel oak,
service berry and other woody shrubs over the reclaimed areas. No reclamation of the existing
roads are planned as they will continue to be used for access for ranching activities and for hunter
access to the hogback. Because there is cun'entiy no soil or vegetative cover on the rock slides
16
