("Colowyo") which is recorded at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The increased temperatures resulted
in a discharge on February 21, 2001 at Outfalls OOSAand 006A and on March 5, 2001 at Outfall OOlA in which
Total Suspended Solid ("TSS") and Total Iron ("Iron") limits were exceeded. Coloywo is requesting alternates
limits for an event that qualifies for less than or equal to a 10 year/24 hour event, thus exempting it from only TSS
and Iron limitations. The self monitoring data you provided on your Discharge Monitoring Report is shown
below:
Outfall
Number Parameter
Reported
Results
Permit
Conditions
OOlA TSS, (mg/l) 100 (30 day avg) 35 (30 day avg)
OOlA TSS, (mg/1) 100 (daily mx) 70 (daily mx)
OOIA Iron, Total (mg/1) 4.99 (30 day avg) 3.5 (30 day avg)
OOSA TSS, (mg/1) 120 (30 day avg) 35 (30 day avg)
OOSA TSS, (mg/1) 120 (daily mx) 70 (daily mx)
OOSA Iron, Total (mg/l) 4.47 (30 day avg) 3.5 (30 day avg)
006A TSS, (mg/1) 710 (30 day avg) 35 (30 day avg)
006A TSS, (mg/I) 710 (daily mx) 70 (daily mx)
006A Iron, Total (mg/1) 12.5 (30 day avg) 3.5 (30 day avg)
Colowyo has shown that each of the described discharges occurred within 48 hours after measurable precipitation,
the discharges were beyond your control, and that the pond volumes prior to the precipitations event was
available. Therefore, the Division believes that Colowyo qualifies for the alternate limitations provision for
Outfalls OOIA, OOSA, and 006A for [he alternate limitations under the storm water exemption for TSS and Iron.
