towards control of identified noxious weed areas. This information will be provided to •
the Division by March 30 of each year as part of the Annual Reclamation Report. Finally,
as new or improved methods of controlling noxious weeds. through the use of herbicides
(either existing or new products) become available, they will be evaluated for
incorporation into the control program. In treatment areas where herbicidal eentroL has
been effective but the density of desireable perennial species is too low [a reestablish
an effective vegetative cover, the area will be reseeded using the approved permanent seed
mix,
A record will be maintained of areas where herbicides are sprayed, the types and mixture
of herbicides used, and the date of treatment. This information will be reported in the
Annual Reclamation Report.
Historically, pest control has not been necessary at tht• Seneca II Mine. Based on this
operating experience, pest control is not anticipated at this time. Ongoing reclamation
monitoring will identify infestations by pests. A pest control plan will be developed
similar to the weed control plan discussed above. The specific plan, based on the
targeted pest, will 6e developed in consultation with I7MG and presented as o revision
submittal, when necessary.
Regrading or Stabilizing Rills and Gullies
Seeded areas will be monitored following spring snormelt and heavy rains. If monitoring
indicates the presence of excessive rills and gullies, closer observation will be
used to determine the cause of the gullying. These areas will be identified on a map.
Natural geomorphic processes in the reclaimed area rill be emphasized, taking into account
the slope, aspect, and soil conditions of the site. Further consideration will be given
to the normal climatic patterns and rate of vegetation establishment and development in
the subject area. Evaluation will include uh eth er the rills end gullies rill prohibit
successful revege[ation or rill disrupt [he achievement of the postmining land use.
Based on [his evaluation, several options will be available to correct the situation.
These options rill be a direct result of studying [he situation and selecting the option
that will best rectify the erosional problem. One or more of the following options and •
corrective methods rill be employed.
13-}0 Revised 01/15/93
