• 4.7 AIR POLLUTION CONTROL PLAN
Trapper Mine holds four separate emissions permits issued by the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division
(APCD) for various mining activities (Section 2.2). As a condition for the emission permit for mining
(C-11, 253(1)), Trapper Mine did operate one hi-volume air sampler to monitor total suspended particu-
late (rSP) levels in accordance with APCD requirements. Two other monitoring stations, one maintained
by Cyprus Empire Corporation and the other by TriState Generation & Transmission Association, Inc.
are near the proposed permit area. While Trapper does not maintain or operate these two stations, the
resulting data are available to the APCD for a total evaluation of TSP levels in the area. Locations of
these air samplers are illustrated in Map M-15.
4.7.1 Monitoring Program
One air monitoring station, P-5, was maintained by Trapper Mine personnel as required by the APCD.
The station was monitored in accordance with APCD standards of one sample per week of 24 hour
duration. A Misco 680 high-volume air sampler was used to obtain total suspended particulate data with
the results being tabulated by Trapper personnel. On June 30, 1988 the APCD terminated the require-
ment that Trapper continue this ambient particulate air monitoring program. Figure 4.7-t presents the
letter of authorization from APCD.
•
4.7.2 Fugitive Dust Control Measures
P,Aining and associated activities are sources of fugitive dust emissions. Fugitive dust emission control
methods used at Trapper Mine are described in this section.
P2-3 __
;~GVISIOt~ P°r;.
a•17o /
~, x_93
..,AT6
~~
-_ _ ....
