Climate -- Precipitation averages 15 to ?0 inches per year. Over <br />ha1P occurs as snow. The frost free period is 50 to y7 days. The <br />site becomes somewhat droughty in early simmer.' Plant growth is <br />most favoral;le in May and June. , <br />B, Elevation and Topography -- 'Phe proposed gravel pit occurs at an <br />elevation of about 6,500 feet. The natural slope is nearly <br />level. The area or_curs on a river terrace, some !+ to 6 feet <br />above the surrounding bottomland. <br />C. Soils -- The proposed pit a curs on an unnamed mapping unit. The <br />soil is classed as s fluvaquent (49). Loam and sandy loam material <br />overlies sand and gravel at about an 1£; - 2b inch depth. The soil <br />is modere.tely permeable but has a low to fair waterholdinq capacity: <br />pR ranges from 6.F to Y.j.
