be located west of the river in the NW'-d of the SW; of Section
27. There may also be unregistered wells in the area which may
be affected.
During the excavation for gravel, it is possible that increased
seepage may result from the Boxelder Ditch. It will be possible
to estimate the increased seepage and pump this portion back to
the Ditch at the southern end of the excavation as part of the
dewatering operation. Several laterals, presumably for the
Boxelder Ditch, extend across the East Rigden parcel. It
appears that they deliver irrigation water to the Morrison and
Baumgartner properties. Excavation at the East Rigden site will
eliminate this conveyence and other provisions will have to
be made. Dewatering north of the railroad tracks at East Rigden
can be accomplished by pumping directly to the river. Dewatering
south of the tracks can be accomplished by pumping directly to
~, the Boxelder Ditch, or by pumping directly to an existing
surface drain which extends across the Morrison and Baumgartner
properties and joins the main river south of County Road 40.
Another option is to construct a pipeline or another surface swale
across the Morrison and Baumgartner properties to the river.
Water Quality
The Colorado State Department of Health has classified the quality
of the flow in the Cache la Poudre water as B1 from the head-
waters of the stream to Greeley. This classification indicates
the flow is suitable for "all purposes for which water is
G- 8
