FNV i Rf1NMFNT
The presence of any rare or endangered species of plants or animals
has not been revealed. Certain activities already in effect are signifi-
cantly affecting the fauna and flora of this area. Some of these activi-
ties include (a) ranching, (b) predator control, (c) suburbanization.
There will, of course, be negative impacts upon the fauna and flora
of the Martin Marietta property during mining operations. Recovery
should be rapid and substantial. Post-reclamation conditions should be
substantially improved over pre-mining conditions. At this time, it is
difficult to say if the fauna will be superior to that presently existing.
Due to rapid urbanization of the area along the front range, it is im-
possible to predict what the fauna will be like in 25 years.
In general, the dryland pasture will provide grazing for farm animals
such as cattle and horses. Overall, the.area will be very productive and
will conform to the existing land use, flora, and fauna.
It is the intent of the reclamation plan to restore the land to as
near the original land use. In many cases, the changing of contours will
make the land more productive or desirable. The reclaimed land will be
• better overall and will make the environment very desirable for future
generations.
