Additional field work was conducted for the affected area
to portray the distribution of historic mine-related disturbances. Figure
B included herein is a 1" = 400' soils and vegetation map of the subject
area. The mapping units portrayed on the Figure B map are given as
follows:
Symbol Map Unit
5 Argiustoll-Rock outcrop complex
9 Baller-Rock outcrop complex
ro Rock outcrop, sedimentary
mr Historic mine disturbance --
no or minimal native soil
present.
Most of the area to be redisturbed is mapped as historic mine
disturbance; native soils around the historic disturbance are primarily the
Baller-Rock outcrop complex. Descriptions of the mapping units for the
soil types illustrated are included herein following Figure B. Afield
inspection of the area revealed that rock outcrops occupy a significant
amount of the area and topsoil is very discontinuous. What soil does occur
is generally in areas too steep to safely recover. The information
provided herein is therefore used primarily to evaluate the physical
characteristics of the soils present.
