•
..~.
R8-cn 3
systems are the most important practices to maintain quality and
quanity of desirable rangeland vegetation. Range seeding along
with deferruent will speed up revegetation of areas depleated by
heavy grazing, cultivation, and other disturbances. Combinations
of stockwater development, fencing, and deferred grazing help
improve grazing distribution and maintain range condition.
Contour furrowing and pitting are practices that improve water
infiltration and reduce runoff and are especially effective on
rangeland in poor or fair conditions.
wildlife, such as cottontail rabbit, squirrels, phesants, mule
deer, and mourning dove utilize this soil. Irrigated crops
provide food and shelter for wildlife. Native rangeland provides
suitable shelter and nesting areas. Management for wildlife
areas should include protection from overgrazing by livestock and
protection from unplanned fire.
High shrink-swell and low strength are the priioary limiting
soil features when plann.tng for the construction of homes and
other community developments. The foundations of buildings must
be designed to compensate for the high shrink-swell and low
strength of the Falfa soils.
L ~ /
