For nearly 20 years, I have beets
care-taking the EstoIla Leopold property in Section 23 iinu~ediately adjacent to the
proposed gtraziy. My current plans are to purchase this property in 20Q5 and as such, I
am very ooucerned about the proposed quarry,
Upon ravieW ofthe l IZ application, I.have the fallowing concerns:
Mr: Wolf has not adequately planned for proper drainage and erosion control.
'T$e thin soils in this Bart of the foothills aro partio'alarly sensitive and do not
recover quickly £rom disruption. Spring aiid summer rain volume can be.
toaential_and wild i,;evis:+htu .P,y~.-#n-erosd~o~ ~~f{~odt the cjuarry into i
Clear Creek. Mr. Wolfs proposed 30,000 gallons of water for dust control will
also contribute to erosion and run-off problems for Clear Creek.
ZVir. VV'olf also fails to pzoperly plan for site restoratiob- While rainfall can be
extreme at bates, the total raitfall for. this area is quite limited. Consequetstly,
seeding efforts and general vegetativo restoration wi.U be difficult it'~ot
impossible.
The proposed quarry is located in prime elk wintering habitat. 'The Golden Gate
State Park herd regularly travels through sections 23 and 26 and would ba
severely stressed by the activity of the proposed quarry.
Zn summary, I am strongly opposed to the MMI2R quarry, as I believe it would do
irreparable harm to the natural water, soil, and wildlife resources of this area.
S' cezely, ~~.
I A.
