This estimate indicates the amount of financial warranty that will be required
unless Nielsons, Inc.'s response to the second TR-002 adequacy review contains changes that affect that
amount.
DMG's calculation follows the reclamation cost estimate submitted with the TR-002 application, with the
addition of a ripping task prior to topsoil replacement and a fencing task as provided for in the original
permit. Ripping is required due to the amount of compaction that will occur during overburden placement
and the current highly compacted state of the areas surrounding the pit. Additionally, the seed mix
proposed in TR-002 is not as diverse as the currently approved seed mix and is not acceptable. The
enclosed estimate uses the currently approved seed mix and includes weed control costs.
Please revise the application to retain the fencing task and the currently approved seed mix and to include
the ripping task described. Also, There are some minor typographical and calculation errors in the TR002
cost estimate figures in Exhibit L such as wrong denominators or highwall dimensions (see tasks 4 and 71.
Please check these calculations and revise them appropriately.
Please carefully review the enclosed calculation and notify DMG if any errors are detected.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Durango Field
Office, 701 Camino Del Rio, Room 125, Durango, Colorado 81301, telephone no. 970-247-5062.
Sincerely,
.~C~"~
Steve S.
