Establishing Vegetative Cover <br />Se dbed Preparation. <br />Alllsite preparation shall be done on the contour (across the slope) to prevent soil erosion <br />from surface water runoff. <br />• Seedbed shall be manipulated so that it is fine enough so that the seed will be in <br />contact with the soil, and soil will not be easily washed or blown away, but loose <br />enough for the seed sprout to penetrate the soil. <br />• To alleviate soil compaction scarification, harrowing and raking may be used; <br />'Amendments <br />amendments shall be used conservatively, and only where soils test has revealed a <br />ciency in certain nutrients. Where fertilizer use is appropriate, a low level or slow <br />ase fertilizer is suggested for the growth of native plants.
