same qualii.y as those used in the batch plant.
Should spill or seepage occur, the liquid and
absorbing material will be scraped up and
processed through the plant along with what-
ever material is being batched at the time.
The replacement of the berm and driving sur-
face material will be replaced with material
of the nature required in the asphalt mixing
process. If a spill or seep were to occur,
there would be no contamination of ground
water due t^ the high clay content of the
soils within the plant site.
r3. The freeboard far each pond will be at
the existing ground surface as shown in sheet
4 of 7.
The nature of the material to be used in
construction is the native soil that er.ists on
site. In this particular location the soil is
within the SOVW mapping unit and erhi6its
characteristics more like the clayey soils of
the Heldt series (mapping unit 26-C, sheet 7
of 7). Side slopes in the ponds will be 2:1
as shown in the Typical Dam and Spillway
detail ^n sheet 4 of 7. Slopes on the face of
the spillway will be shallower due to getting
the correct fall far the draining device to
6e used and because the gentler slope will
prevent movement of the riprap on the
spillways and at the drain pipe (sheet 4 of
7).
One other reason for the flatter slopes on the
spillway is due to the necessity to waste (or
balance) material excavated from the ponds.
Otherwise this clayey sail would have to be
stockpiled and its stabilization and revegeta-
tian would be difficult.
Fonds will not be cleaned out. They will 6e
reclaimed insitu as they fill with sediment.
However, the ponds have been sized in such a
manner that replacement is not er.pected t^
occur except possibly only once.
