October 10, 2006 <br />Mr. Allen Sorensen <br />State of Colorado <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Battle Mountain Resources Inc. <br />San Luis Project ,/ <br />CIyfLRB Permit No. M-88-112 <br />eptember 2006 Monthly Report <br />Dear Mr. Sorensen: <br />RGCElVE~ <br />err ~; nnF <br />Division of Redamauon, <br />.~ Mining and Safety <br />The following summarizes monitoring and site activities at the Battle Mountain Resources Inc. <br />(BMRI), San Luis Project for the month of September 2006. <br />Surface and ground water monitoring and analysis were completed for all required sites during <br />the month per the teens and conditions of the TR-32 Quality Assurance and Quality Control <br />(QA/QC) Plan. <br />Vacuum on the tailing lysimeters was verified on September 28'", no water was present for <br />sampling and subsequent analysis. <br />Depths to water were collected for the tailing impoundment main embankment piezomeiers and <br />the West Pit and tailings embankment monitoring wells on September 28`". September tailing <br />impoundment pieaometor measurements identified these installations ware either dry or contained <br />less than 12 inches of water as illustrated in Table 2 Tables I and 2 below identify the depth to <br />water measurements collected for each of the she monitoring wells, piezometers aad lysimeters as <br />required by the terms and conditions of the T&32 QA/QC plan. <br />The tailing impoundment collection pond underdtain flow was pumped irtermittently during the <br />month to minimize the collection pond Leval. The leak detecton system was measured oa <br />September 28'". The September tailings pond undcrdrain flow average was 34.17 gpm and a total <br />of 970 gallons ofwater was excavated from the teak detection system yielding a monthly average <br />of 34.6 gpad. <br />During September the West Pit water treatment plant operand eflieieutly discharging a total of <br />7,915,800 gallons {24.29 acro-foot) of water to Rito Seco Creek and a total of 513,500 gallons <br />(1.58acre-feet) of water was transferred fig the watertreatment plain to the tailings <br />impourtdmant.
