It <br /> formed in gravelly and sandy alluvium. Typically, the <br /> surface layer is very gravelly sandy loam 6 inches <br /> thick. The upper 15 inches of the substratum is <br /> extremely cobbly sandy loam. The lower part to a depth <br /> of 60 or more inches is extremely cobbly sand. <br /> Permeability is moderately rapid to rapid. Available <br /> water capacity is low. Effective rooting depth is 60 <br /> inches or more . Runoff is medium to very rapid, and <br /> the hazard of erosion of unprotected soil by water is <br /> moderate to very high. <br /> 62 Limon-Gaynor silty clay loams, 3 to 12 percent slopes <br /> This map unit is on upland side slopes . It is about 55 <br /> percent Limon soil and about 35 percent Gaynor soil . <br /> The Limon soil is on foot slopes and drainageways, and <br /> the Gaynor soil is on side slopes and foot slopes. <br /> The Limon soil is deep and well drained. It formed in <br /> • alluvium. Typically, the surface layer is silty clay <br /> loam 3 inches thick. The substratum is silty clay 43 <br /> inches thick over shale at a depth of 46 inches . <br /> Permeability is slow. Available water capacity is <br /> moderate. Effective rooting depth is 40 inches or <br /> more. Runoff is rapid to very rapid, and the hazard of <br /> erosion of unprotected soil by water is high to very <br /> high. This soil has high shrink-swell potential . <br /> The Gaynor soil is moderately deep and well drained. <br /> It formed in alluvium and residuum derived dominantly <br /> from shale . Typically, the surface layer is silty clay <br /> loam 4 inches thick. The substratum is silty clay 26 <br /> inches thick over soft, weathered shale . Permeability <br /> is slow. Available water capacity is low. Effective <br /> rooting depth is 20 to 40 inches . Runoff is rapid to <br /> very rapid, and the hazard of water erosion is high to <br /> very high. When these soils dry, surface cracks form <br /> that are 1/2 to 1 inche wide and 4 to 12 inches deep. <br /> This soil has high shrink-swell potential . <br /> 65 Manvel silt loam, 0 to 3 percent slopes <br /> • <br />
