<br />POTTS SERIES <br />Taxonomic Classification: Fine-loamy, mixed, mesic family of Ustollic <br />Naplargids. <br />Setting: Potts soils are on broad, valley-filling alluvial fans. They have <br />formed in loamy, calcareous alluvium from :nixed sources. Slopes are 2 to 5 <br />percent. <br />General Characteristics: Potts soils are wall-drained with moderate <br />permeability and medium runoff. Vegetation is primarily big sagebrush and mixed <br />perennial and annual grasses. <br />Range in Characteristics: Textures ara primarily silt loam to silty clay loam <br />with 20 to 35 percent clay. Coarse fragment content is 0 to 10 percent with <br />• accumulations of visible secondary calcium carbonate below 30 to 35 inches. <br />Reaction is mildly to moderately alkaline with alkalinity decreasing with depth. <br />Depth to bad rock is greater than 50 inches. <br />Type Location: 2500 feet cast, 1500 feet north of the southwest corner of <br />Section 23, 'T2N, R101~1.
