correlation with other surveys in the county. Local SCS personnel ware contacted
to discuss existing ;naps and legends.
d. MAPPING UNIT DESIGN
Survey techniques ware employed to ensure that napping unit design was compatible
to the Heads and uses of the survey. A ;napping unit in this survey is comprised
of either:
A single soil series phase or phase of series variant, or
A complex of soil series phases or variants.
• fhe majority of snapping units era a single soil type, wither series phase or
phase of series variant with lass ti~an 15 p ercent inclusions of other soil and/or
land types.
Soil complexes were only used where two or .nore soil and/or land types ware so
intermixed that delineation was impractical or unneccessary for the intended
use of the survey. These complexes only contain soil types with si.nilar topsoil
availability and suitability with similar depths, slopes, and physical and
che,nical characteristics.

II.I-8
