Snow was
encountered at approximately the 7,000-foot elevation along the
Coal Gulch Trail. At approximately the 8,000-foot elevation,
before the turnoff to Spring 1, the depth of snow made the trail
impassable for the all-terrain vehicle. Springs 1-6 were not
monitored on April 7.
Since that time there have been two storms that brought additional
snow and rain to the mine area. The first storm was on April 9,
and the second storm was on April 17. This morning there was snow
on the ground at approximately the 6,000-foot elevation. Muddy
conditions made foot travel to the Hubbard Creek area for the
weekly monitoring of Hubbard Creek Pond difficult today.
The planned attempt to monitor Springs 1-6 this third week of April
has been cancelled by the weather. The next scheduled attempt to
monitor Springs 1-6 will not be until the first week of May.
Therefore, Springs 1-6 will not be monitored during April. This
letter is to serve notification to the Division if the April
monitoring is missed and explain the conditions which caused the
lack of monitoring, in accordance with p 2.05-47ii of the permit
document and Minor Revision No. 24.
Please call if there are any questions.
Sincere ,
~~~~
Thomas C.
