Two permit limitation exceedences aze reported for the monthly average and maximum Total
Suspended Solids at Outfall 003 for the period. The monthly average and maximum were calculated at 88 mg/L.
The permit limitations are 35 mg/L for the average and 70 mg/L for the maximum.
Chris Miller of 'Miller Water Monitor Service', Hayden, Colorado performed the sampling in question and noted
the water being cloudy on this particular day. In taking a sample, the site had to be shoveled clear of snow to
allow the free flow of water through the flume. In addition, the flows during the 1998 late winter season tended
to be intermittent for this Outfall. The combined results of these conditions would allow for variance within
the typical TSS calculations for Outfall 003. Such conditions are not a regular occurrence with Oucfall 003.
The concentration of Total Suspended Solids was in compliance at Outfa11003 in January 1998. TCC has received
results for Total Suspended Solids for the first week of March, 1998 which indicate that the TSS concentrations
are decreasing co amounts normally associated with this Site. Outfall 003 should be in compliance for March of
1998.
Outfalls 002, 004, 006, 007, 008, 010, 016, and 017 did not discharge during this period.
Outfall 020 has not been constructed; therefore, there is no discharge to enable chemical or toxicological testing
to date.
The following explanations of the reported statistics demonstrate that the site was visited per permit regulations.
For Outfall 005, more parameters were reported then required in the statistics because Accelerated Wet Testing
was being performed at that time. For Outfall 003, there was no flow reported the third week of the month, so all
statistics are based on three measurements as opposed to four. For Outfall 006, there was no flow for the first three
weeks of the month, therefore the statistics are based on one measurement only. For Outfall 009, there was no flow
Eor the first three weeks of the month, therefore statistics are based on one measurement only. Also, a flow reading
could not be obtained on the fourth sample date for Outfall 009 because the water was ponding in Eront of the vleir.
Accelerated WET Testing was performed at Outfall OOSX the week of February 9, 1998 for C dubia and P. promelas.
The Outfall demonstrated a "pattern of no toxicity" for both species.
Please contact me at (970) 879-3800, exc. 2805 for any further questions or additional information.
