Dear Mr. Kite:
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is reviewing All Rite Paving and Redi-Mix's application for a
regular 112 Mining and Reclamation Permit, [o mine sand and gravel at their proposed North River Pit. We have
received letters from individuals indicating [hat they are objecting to approval of the application.
When the Division receives timely written objections to a permit application, a hearing process is started. The first
step is an Informal Conference which will be held at I :00 p.m., May 4, 1999, at the Woodruff Memorial Library, 522
Colorado. La Junta, Colorado. H. Bruce Humphries, Minerals Program Supervisor or his designee will conduct the
meeting.
At the Informal Conference, each person objecting [o approval of the application will be able to present their grounds
for objecting, and the applicant and anyone supporting the application will have time to present grounds necessary to
support issuance of a Mining and Reclamation permit.
Any interested person may participate in the conference by submittine written comments or by appearing in person.
The Division will report on the status of the permit review, discuss the types of issues the Mined Land Reclamation
Board (MLRB) will consider at the final hearing, and discuss the remainder of [he review and hearing process.
All-Rite Pavine and Redi-Mix has requested that the decision date on [heir application be changed from May 6, 1999
to June 6, 19999.
A Pre-hearing Conference and a final Formal Public Hearing will be held at later dates. if it is necessary to continue
the hearng process.
