2.04.10 Vegetation Inforwation, (continued)
•
randowly chosen adjacent to the eighteen transact sites shown on
Map No, 5 and wavy additional sites, totaling fifty (50) were
eventually chosen to fully bracket the disturbed area.
In each square water site all new growth of grasses and
forbs was clipped, air dried and weighed in order to deterwine
the production per acre. Sawples of grasses and forbs were kept
separate. In these calculations loco weed and snake weed are
included in forbs. and cacti and oak brush are owitted.
The calculations for the production of the square water
sites (quadrants) adjacent to the eighteen (18) transacts did
not satisfy the adequacy forwula nor did an additional seven (7)
making a total of twenty five (25). It was then decided because
• of the high variance found in the results of the sawples it
would be tiwe saving to do a total of fifty (50) which was the
upper liwit set be the Division.
Calculations wade after the fifty (50) quadrants were
clipped and dried showed thirty five (35) calculations to have
a average weight, grasses and forbs cowbined, of five hundred
pounds, and it would be necessary to do another ten (10) to
satisfy the forwula. The fifty (50) quadrants clipped indicated
only thirty four (34) were necessary, however, forty (40)
quadrants satisfied the adequacy forwula cowplately. The forty
(40) quadrants indicated a wean of five hundred fourteen (514)
pounds of grasses and forbs per acre.
