BOWIE RESOURCES LIMITED
BOWIE NO. 2 MINE
IMPOUNDMENT YEARLY INSPECTION
In accordance with Rule 4.05.9(14), all impoundments shall be inspected at least yearly
to determine if the impoundment has been maintained as designed, and in accordance
with the approved plan and the applicable regulations. This yearly inspection is for the
impoundments located at the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
On March 25, 2002 I performed the required yearly inspection. I, J. E. Stover, have a
wide variety experience in the design and construction of earth fill embankments.
Nothing was observed during the inspection that would indicate the pond has a
potential for failure. There was no appearance of erosion, instability, structural
weakness or other hazardous conditions. There are no required monitoring procedures
or instrumentation. There are no aspects which might affect stability. One
maintenance issue is the removal of sediment from all three ponds. Pond B had a
small pool of water. The water level of Pond C was above the primary spillway. The
bottom of Pond D was covered with water. There was no discharge from any of the
pond/impoundments.
The impoundments have the following estimated capacities:
IMPOUNDMENT CAPACITIES -ACRE FEET
Water Sediment Total
Pond B 4.10 0.61 4.72
Pond C 3.47 0.46 3.93
Pond D 0.48 0.10 0.58
Notes:
1. The capacity of Ponds B and C are shown on Maps 22-B and 22-C respectively.
The capacity of Pond D was certified by the undersigned on 12-30-97.
2. The sediment capacity of the ponds is less than shown in the table because of
interim sediment accumulation.
With the exception the
knowledge and beli~
accordance with thy, a
.~
be removed from the ponds, to the best of my
have been maintained as designed and in
applicable regulations.

~
- o '7~-
tove
r ate
nal Engineer
No. 19230
