GLACIER PEAK MINING
JOSEPH L. DORRIS
2920 Coder Heights Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80904
('719) 685.4479 a-mail: gl~trii.com
Mr. Harry Posey
Division of Minerals and Geology
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Dever CO 80203
Dear Mr. Posey
/ J
Re Prospecting Permit P-2003-014 and Mining Permit M-2003-030
RECEIVED
OCT 1 7 2005./
Oiuision of Minerals and Geology
14 October 2005
I believe you are the correct person ro address this to, or James Dillie is, who I've worked with in the past
After the past three Jeans offietd work, it is now clear some of the Iatendad prospect sites which I was cleared to
conduct mechanized exptoralion an, are not good sites. Presently, these are 5 sites I will not open. I was approved for
28 sites which would come under one acre of disturbance. I would add 5 new sites in their place.
The presem permit is for one acre dishibanoe total. The change in sites, therefore, would not change the arnottm of
disturbance. I would ensure the total disturbance remains less than one acre. T would, of course, submit photos of these
proposed sites. These sites would also be added to my current operations plan with the Forest Service before
Png~
Secondly, I will soon be adding two ~w claims and dropping two current claims in ow operations. IS it possible, with
the sameone-acre restriction in mind and the 28 site limit, to put two each prospects on theme claims? This would show
whether or trot they have the potential to conduct mining opennions. I would need to submit the NOI and other
documents[ion, including obtaining an operations plan from the Forest Service before proceeding. The two claims I'll
drop, presently hive no dishabances on them and have been insptlcted for past c>perauotrs
Thirdly, I have a similar question regarding my mining pemrit. I understand I cannot increase the permit size with the
ammdmem process. I am presetly limited to 3 acres of disturbance. We have disturbed less than .6 acres to date anti
have reclaimed the same.
The original application listed eight sites which totaled 3 acres of attticipated disltnbartce. One of those sites cannot be
mined under ow permit because it was located on oce of ow mining claims too far separated from the other claims
(Qui-Bus No. 2). It is not covered in ow permit, and I will need to file for a separate permit for operations on these
northern claims. This site would have allowed 0.14 acre. Can I add this planned disttrbance to the approved sites as
needed?
In sun>, I recognize I am limited to 3 acres, and I am candidly managing ibis. Can I menage the total acreage the way I
see to hest use ow equipment, manage costs, provide better opportunity for profitable production, etc. amongst the
approved sites? All of tilts is approved through the Forest Service as well based on their site inspections and ow
operations plan. All of this, of course, is also enumerated in our annual report to you in ow mining summaries aid
proposed operations for the upcoming Year.
If these dtanges are possible, I will write up a specific adjustment with attached traps which clearly delineate what I
have outlined for yow approval.
Thank you for any help yon can give me inthis matter.
~/~
JOSEPH L.
