It formed in <br />• alluvium on foot slopes and stream terraces on~the plains, <br />Typically the soil is silty clay loam to a depth ofi 60 inches <br />or more. Permeability is slow. Available water capacity is <br />high. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more, Runoff <br />is slow and the water erosion hazard is slight on slopes less <br />than 3 Per cent and high over 3 percent. Soi15 on terraces <br />are slightly saline. <br />SaD MIDWAY CLAY LOAM, 3 TO 15 PERCENT SLOPES, GULLIED <br />The Midway soil is shallow and well drained. It formed in <br />residuum from shale on plains. Typically the surface is clan <br />loam or gravelly clay loam 2 inches thick. The underlying <br />material is clay 7 inches thick over shale. Permeability is <br />slow. Available water capacity is very low. Effective <br />rooting depth is 5 to 20 inches. Runoff is medium to rapid <br />and the hazard of water erosion is high. <br />vm TORREON CLAY LOAM, 3 TO 9 PERCENT SLOPES <br />The Torreon soil is deep and well drained. It formed in <br />alluvium and residuum from basalt on mesas and fans. <br />Typically the surface is clay loam 7 inches thick. The <br />subsoil is clay 38 inches thick. The substratum is cobbly <br />clay loam to a depth of 60 inches or more. Permeability is <br />slow. Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. <br />Available water caPacitY is high, Runoff is medium and the <br />O water erosion hazard is moderate. <br />Wi8 WILEY SILT LOAM, 0 TO 3 PERCENT SLOPES <br />The Wiley soil is deep and well drained. It formed in loess <br />on the plains. Typically the surface is silt loam 5 inches <br />thick. The subsoil is silty clay loam 38 inches thick. The <br />substratum is silt loam to a depth of 60 inches or more. <br />Permeability is moderate. Available water caPacitY is high. <br />Effective rooting depth is 60 inches or more. Runoff is slow <br />and the hazard of water erosion is moderate, <br />XCSE MIDWAY-ILDEFONSO-KIM COMPLEX, 5 TO 35 PERCENT SLOPES <br />This map Unit is on Side s10pe5, foot Slopes, and ridgetOPS Of <br />foothills and alluvial fans, It is about 45 percent Midway <br />soils, 45 percent Ildefonso soils, and 10 percent Kim soils. <br />Midway soils are on steep side slopes. Ildefonso soils are on <br />ridgetops, Kim soils are on toot slopes. <br /> <br />
