• SOIL PROFILE DESCRIPTION - OLNEY SERIES <br />The Olney series consists of deep, Well drained soils on uplands. These <br />soils formed in calcareous eolian material. Slope is 3 to 12 percent. <br />The average annual precipitation is 13 to 15 inches, and Lhe average <br />annual air temperature is 48 to 54 degrees F. <br />Typical pedon of Olney sandy loam, 3 to 12 percent slopes, 45 feet west' <br />and 210 feet north of the southeast corner of Section 2, T. 26 S., <br />R. 65 W. <br />A1-0 to 3 inches; brow (lOYR 5/3) sandy loam, dark brown (lOYR 3/3) <br />moist; weak fine granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky and <br />nonplastic; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br />B1--3 to 6 inches; brow (lOYR 5/3) fine sandy loam, brow (lOYR 4/3) <br />moist; weak medium and coarse subangular blocky structure; slightly <br />• hard, very friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; neutral; clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />B2t-6 to 13 inches; brow (lOYR 5/3) sandy clay loam, brow (lOYR 4/3) <br />moist; moderate medium prismatic structure parting to moderate medium <br />subangular blocky; hard, very friable, slightly sticky and slightly <br />plastic; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br />Baca-13 to 18 inches; pale brow (lOYR 6/3) sandy clay loam, brow <br />(lOYR 5/3) moist; moderate medium prismatic structure parting to <br />moderate medium subangular blocky; slightly hard, very friable, slightly <br />sticky and slightly plastic; calcareous; moderately alkaline; clear <br />smooth boundary. <br />Clca-18 to 27 inches; pale brow (lOYR 6/3) fine sandy loam, brow <br />(lOYR 5/3) moist; weak coarse subangular blocky structure; hard, very <br />• friable, nonsticky and plastic; calcareous; moderately alkaline; clear <br />smooth boundary. <br />
