<br />• SOIL PROFILE DESCRIPTION - FORT COLLINS SERIES <br />The Fort Collins series consists of deep, well drained soils on gently <br />sloping and undulating uplands. These soils formed in eolian silt and <br />fine sand. Slope is 1 to 9 percent. The average annual precipitation <br />is 12 to 16 inches, and the average annual air temperature is 50 to 54 <br />degrees F. <br />Typical pedon of Fort Collins loam, 3 to 9 percent slopes, 2,100 feet <br />north and 1,600 feet west of the southeast corner of Section 22, <br />T. 26 S., R. 66 A. <br />Al-0 to 4 inches; grayish brown (lOYR 5/2) loam, dark brown (lOYR 3/3) <br />moist; moderate fine granular structure; slightly hard, very friable <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; neutral; clear smooth boundary. <br />B1--4 to 7 inches; brown (lOYR S/3) :lay loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3) <br />• moist; moderate medium prismatic structure parting to moderate medium <br />subangular blocky; hard, friably, slightly sticky and slightly plastic; <br />common thin clay films on ped faces; mildly alkaline; clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />B2t--7 to 19 inches; brown (lOYR 5/3) clay loam, dark brown (lOYR 4/3) <br />moist; strong medium prismatic structure parting to strong medium <br />subangular blocky; very hard, friable, sticky and plastic; common thin <br />clay films on ped faces; mildly alkaline; clear smooth boundary. <br />Baca--19 to 23 inches; yellowish brown (lOYR 5/4) clay loam, dark <br />yellowish brown (lOYR 4/4) moist; moderate medium prismatic structure <br />parting to moderate medium subangular blocky; very hard, friable; <br />slightly sticky and slightly plastic; calcareous; secondary calcium <br />carbonate thin streaks; mildly alkaline; gradual smooth boundary. <br />• Cca--23 to 60 inches; light yellowish brown (lOYR 6/4) loam, brows (lOYR <br />5/3) moist; massive; very hard, friable, slightly sticky and slightly <br />plastic; calcareous; secondary calcium carbonate, thin streaks; <br />
