Also <br />included are small areas of Clovis soils and :veville soils occurring on <br />alluvial fans. <br />The Pinon soil is shallow and we1L drained. It formed in residuum <br />derived dominantly from sandstone and shale. Slope is 3 to 3U percent. <br />Typically, the surface layer is brown loam about 5 Snches thick. The <br />underlying material to a depth of 16 inches is pinkish white loam. Hard <br />sandstone is at a depth of 16 inches. In some areas the surface layer is <br />gravelly loam, gravelly sandy loam, sandy loam, or cobbly loam. <br />
