The construction of the french drain was approved by the
Division in Minor Revision No. 185. The purpose of the french drain was to collect springs that
were emanating from two thin coal seams. The french drain has been successful in collecting the
water.
Following the construction of the french drain it was observed that there are two more coal seams
that are located below the bottom elevation of the french drain. MCC plans to construct an
additional french drain to collect the water that is emanating from these coal seams. The french
drain will be constructed as the french drain in Minor Revision No. 185 was constructed. A
trench, approximately 10 feet deep and 100 feet long will be lined with a 30 ml PVC liner and
gravel placed in the trench. The french drain will be located approximately 40 to 50 feet down
slope of the first drain. It will daylight on the west end of the cutslope and connect to the eight
inch surface ADS pipe, which was installed during the construction of the first french drain. MCC
is planning to begin this work this week.
Please call ifyou have any questions.
Permitting Specialist
cc: Norm Every
ra~~sl,.da
