Evaluation of Potential Impacts <br />to Wetlands on the Sage Hill Farrn from the <br />Proposed Nix Property <br />Sand and Gravel Operation <br />• Aerial Photographs dated October 2, 1991 and Mazch 15, 1969 (black and white, scale: <br />1 "=200' approximately). <br />The proposed aggregate mine site, subject wetland on the Sage Hill Farm, and adjacent azeas <br />were observed on August 2 and 14, 2001. At these times, observations were made on the <br />vegetation, soils, and hydrology of the subject wetland, and on irrigation ditches, ponds and other <br />water features in the azea. During the field trips, discussions were held with Ms. Cynthia Pazker, <br />owner of the Sage Hill Farm, and other neighbors regazding irrigation and agricultural practices <br />in the area. <br />Piezomete,rs , <br />Seven piezometers (MW-1 through MW-5, MW-7 and MW-]0) were installed on the Nix <br />property and around the subject wetland on August 14 and 24, 2001. The locations of the <br />piezometers are shown on Figure 2. The piezometers were installed using an auger drill rig and <br />were completed with 2'/a-inch polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe. The piezometers were installed to <br />a depth of 10 to 20 feet with the lowest five feet constructed of slotted casing. Five piezometers <br />installed by David, Cooper on the Sage Hill Farm eazlier in the summer were also monitored <br />(MW-6, MW-8, MW-9. MW-] 1 and MW-13). In addition, the domestic well at the house on the <br />Sage Hill Farm (MW-12) was monitored. The top of casing of the piezometers and ground <br />surface at tl:e piezometers were surveyed, and water levels read on the following days: August <br />14, August 29, September 7, September 14, and October 10, 2001. <br />EVALUATION OF POTENTIAL IMPACTS ON WETLAND <br />Water Sources for Wetland <br />The, data and observations collected for this evaluation indicate that the subject wetland is <br />sustained by both surface water and groundwater.
