of the embanlmtent will be constructed to minimum construction
,.--, ~ standards and specifications of Montrose County, Colorndo, for County
' v acceptance approximately 7-I S years after completion.
3. RECOMMENDED GEDTECRNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
General geotechetical specifications and related notes are summarized
on the attached Figure 1.
8J FOUNDATION ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
At the time of this report, 007 pond had been excavated to total depth
exposing sandstone bedrock along the entire length of the embanl~ent
foundation. Since excavation of the pond, 1 to 2 feet of sediment has
settled into the pond bottom in the area of the embankment.
Z ~
.J To reduce the potential for excessive settlements of the rocldill
• ~ embanlmtent, we recommend the shucttue be founded duectly on the
sandstone bedrock at the bottom of the pond. Phis will require that the
recently deposited sediment be removed and bedrock exposed within
the footprint area of the rockfill embankment. We recotmend that a
representative of our faro be present dining this operation to confirm
the presence and type of bedrock exposed in the foundation and to
make any adjustments to the geotechnical specifications if necessary.
3.2 ROCRFILL MATERIAL
"Rockfill" is defined as containing less than SO% (by weight) smaller
than I-inch diameter particles and a maximum rock particle size being
75%of lift thickness (14 inches for 18-inch lifts, 28 inches for 24-inch
lifts), necessary [o provide a relatively smooth surface for compaction.
The rockf~ll must also contain less than 15% (by weight) fines passing
t
~~-J Attachment 2.05.3(3)9- 4
Attachment 2.05.3(3)9- 4
