Cvorus Yampa Vallev
Coal Coro.
Enclosed, please find the DMRs for the referenced permit for the month of JUNE.
No exceedences were noted. Outfalls 002, 004, 006, 008, and 017 all showed no
discharge during the monitoring visits for the period in question. Please note that
outfall 007 discharged for a six day period, and that samples were collected in
conjunction with WET testing during this time. The flow and Mn values for Outfall
007 in the Wasteload Allocation Data table reflects the maximum values obtained for
the week, as both were associated with the normal sampling day for this outfall.
Acute WET testing results for outfalls 001 and 005 showed no toxicity. Outfall 007
Acute WET results were reported during the previous month.
Chronic WET tests for outfalls 005 and 007 showed no significant effects to either the
ceriodaphs or the fathead minnows. Outfall 001 showed toxicity to both the
ceriodaphs and the fathead minnows. Copies of both the Acute and Chronic WET test
results have been included for your reference.
As discussed with the Department, outfall 001 underwent de-watering by means of
the attached sluice gate during the beginning of the month. Monitoring data do not
indicate any quality problems to be associated with this activity. Please note that the
flow data presented in the Wasteload Allocation Data for Outfall 019 reflects
fluctuations resulting from the adjustment of the sluice gate to assess inflows and de-
water the pond during the month. As discussed, sampling was conducted at the
designated point on the normal schedule. At this time, the gate has been closed, and
CYVCC does not anticipate the need for further adjustment in the near future.
