<br />RANGE SITE N0. 407 Paoe 2 <br />SALTDESERT OVERFLOW <br />August 1975 <br />Percent ground cover is 50 to 60 percent. <br />Plants not a part of the potential plant community that are most <br />likely to invade when the cover deteriorates are kochia, Russian <br />thistle, cheatgrass and other introduced annuals. The soils are deep valley-fill alluviums being formed from <br />various geologic materials, including sandstones and shales. <br />When in a depleted range condition, these soils are easily <br />eroded and deep gullies result. They are highly productive <br />when not gullied because of the high waterholding capacity <br />and they receive run-in water from adjacent areas of the <br />watershed. <br />
