r
r
3
INTENTIONS:
The facility discussed serves a dual purpose; sedimentation control and water storage
for haul road dust suppression. Since available water on the property is limited, the
Company proposes to install an elbow and decant riser on the culvert to increase the
normal operating pool level from 7065.2 to 7068.5. The 7068.5 elevation corresponds to
afour-inch-diameter hole cut in the riser section with the decant overflow elevation set
at 7072.5. The author could not ascertain the purpose of the four-inch-diameter hole.
The reservoir leve] increase from 7065.2 to 7068.5 increases the normal total storage
from 11 to 16 acre-feet and storage at decant inlet is estimated to be 25 acre-feet.
Mr. Gehrke stated during our conversations that he was dissatisfied with the current
condition of the open channel emergency spillway and that repairs were slated for the
upcoming construction season. Depending upon management decisions, the spillway
will be either rehabilitated at the current location or reconstructed at a new crest
elevation. It was pointed out that a well defined channel must be developed from the
spillway crest to the stream channel and that it must be well protected.
Please contact this office if there are any questions regrading this report.
cc: J.
