• Approximate overburden thicknesses at the four
buildings where future subsidence is predicted are 790 feet
at the Muckle House and Morrell's ranch, 880 feet at the
Gross-Rhode cabin, and 1,680 feet at the unnamed cabin near
Morrell Cow Camp. This indicates that the Muckle House,
htorrell's ranch and the Gross-Rhode cabin may be subject to
appreciable damage under the currently proposed mining plan.
The thicker overburden beneath the unnamed cabin should
result in relatively less strains so that only slight to
negligible damage is to be expected.
All other buildings within the lease area lie
outside predicted subsidence zones.
Power Lines
The power line along Terror Creek lies outside the
predicted subsidence zone and should not be affected by
subsidence.
The southern end of the 7,200 volt C4lI power line from
the mine site to the wellfield overlies 1st East through 3rd
East panels off 1st Nortti 14ains. Mining has been completed
in these panels. Some subsidence should have occurred
• already in this area, and no additional subsidence is
predicted. Future subsidence is predicted near the north end
of the powerline. A flexible power cable should be capable
of withstanding moderate effects of subsidence without
significant damage. However, the character of the cable and
any enclosing conduit should be checked to confirm this.
Pipelines
The water pipeline from the C'NI well field in Stevens
Gulch to the mine should undergo no additional subsidence at
its southern end, where mining has been completed, but its
northern end lies within a subsidence zone. The ability of
the pipeline to withstand subsidence and bending should be
verified.
The Pitkin Mesa Pipeline crosses four separate
extraction zones within Steven Gulch where substantial
subsidence is predicted, according to the currently proposed
mine plan. To the north of the Stevens Gulch alluvium it
lies outside areas of predicted subsidence. T!re ability of
the pipeline to withstand substantial strains over the
entire Lena*_h o` Stevens Gulch above the D-seam should be
verified.
•
_ 54 _
