• 4.4.2.11 Removal of Project Facilities
On-site equipment and materials have been removed with the exception of the main access
road, which will be retained in its entire width. Secondary roads to the portals have been
covered with topsoil and revegetated. The seed mix shown in Table 4.4-36 has been
applied for the revegetation.
These roads, even though vegetated, will remain for permanent access for the future
farming and ranching operation as well as for access to hunting grounds. They will greatly
facilitate the movement of livestock to and from the new grazing grounds.
4.5 Post Mining Land Use
All surface lands disturbed by mining and development activities (except previous mining)
will be restored to a condition that is capable of supporting and improving the land use
that has existed before the mining or to the newly designated land use. The land use
classification under Garfield County Zoning regulations is shown on Figure 3.1-4 and is
currently designated AgricultureJPUD. This land use includes areas for grazing lands,
with wildlife habitat as secondary use, developed water resources, areas of steep mountain
shrub considered undeveloped land, some residential land use and areas for cropped hay.
The landowner of the disturbed area has determined the immediate best use of the
• reclaimed land will be agricultural purposes. It is, therefore, the intention of the final
reclamation plan to restore and improve, where possible and practical, the level of
usefulness of the lands as a result of the reclamation process.
Nc~a - c~ way a i 4-63 11-26-96
