U.S. Department of Agriculture Page - 1 Soil Conservation Service 6/12/95 NONTECHNICAL SOILS DESCRIPTION REPORT FOR DESCRIPTION CATEGORY - SOI Survey Area- LOGAN COUNTY, COLORADO Map Symbol Description 20 DACONO LOAM This is a deep, well drained soil with a loamy surface texture and a heavy clay loam subsoil texture. Permeability is slow and the available water capacity is moderate. The surface runoff is slow and the erosion hazard is slight. SOIL CAPABILITY -- Non-Irrig. - IIIs, Irrig. - IIIe. RANGE SITE -- Loamy Plains. 25 DIX-ECKLEY COMPLEX, 5 TO 25 PERCENT SLOPES This complex is a deep, well drained to excessively drained gravelly soil with a gravelly sandy loam to gravelly loam surface and a coarse sandy loam or gravelly sandy clay loam subsurface. Permeability is rapid to moderate; available water capacity is low to moderate. Surface runoff is rapid to medium and water erosion hazard is high. SOIL CAPABILITY -- Non-Irrig. - VIe. RANGE SITE -- Dix and Eckley - Gravel Breaks. 31 GRAVEL PITS This unit consists of open excavations and barrow areas from which soil and underlying material, most commonly gravel, has been removed. These excavations are usually located in areas of soils underlain by gravel at depths of 10 to 40 inches. On-site investigations are required on this unit to determine use and management. 63 MANTER SANDY LOAM, 5 T0.9 PERCENT SLOPES This is a deep, well drained soil with a sandy loam surface texture and a sandy loam subsoil. Permeability is moderately rapid and available water capacity is moderate. Surface runoff is medium and erosion hazard is moderate. The soil blowing hazard is moderate.
