Waldron <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Rule 4.05.6(13) and 4.05.9(13) <br />Sediment Pond and Impoundment Inspections <br />Dear Mr. Waldron: <br />It is my understanding that Coors Energy Company, Keenesburg <br />Mine, Permit #C-81-028 is required under Rule 4.05.6(13) and <br />9.05.9(13) of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act to <br />quarterly inspect sediment ponds and all impoundments. In <br />addition, these inspections are to be completed by a qualified, <br />registered, professional engineer or a qualified individual under <br />their direction to assure structural integrity, erosional <br />maintenance, and other hazardous conditions. <br />Donald MacDonald, the Operations Manager at Keenesburg, is <br />experienced in the construction and maintenance of sediment ponds <br />and impoundments. He will examine or inspect the following <br />sY.ructures; sediment pond #2, sewage lay-oon, and dugout for the <br />pertinent compliance data quarterly. If a potentially hazardous <br />condition exists, I will be contacted and both Don and I will <br />inspect the structure at question.
