Discussion of Effluent Limitations
a. Oil and Grease: The Regulations for Effluent Limitations (Regulation No. 62) include effluent limitations that apply
to all discharges of wastewater to State waters. These regulations are applicable to the ditcharge from the Trapper
Mine WWTF The Oil and Grease concentrations from the Regulations for Effluent Limitations are the most
stringent effluent limits and are therefore applied.
b. ~ -This parameter is limited by Water Quality Standards (WQS) as the WQS of 6.5-9.0 s.u. range are more
stringent than those specified ursder the Regulations for Effluent Limitations . Previously, the upper limit was set at
9.5 s.u. for outfalls 001, 002, and 005, however it has been shown that these outfalls can meet the WQS so the upper
limits far all outfalls will be 9.0 s. u.
c. A~olicable Federal Effluent Guidelines and Standards: The federal guidelines which apply to this type offacility
are found under 40 CFR 434, titled Coal Mining Point Source Effluent Guidelines. The limitations which apply are:
Table VI-3 -- Federal Standards (40 CFR 434)
Parameter Limitations
Last Revised: 429/2004
