Your letter included a table indicating daily precipitation recorded by the J.L. Totres Company
at the Trinidad Lake Project located approximately 10 miles east of the mine site. The self monitoring data you provided on
your third quarter 2002 Dischazge Monitoring Report is shown below;
Outfall Reported Permit
Number Pazameter Results Conditions
007A Total Suspended Solids, (mgll) 285 (30day avg) 35 (30day avg)
007A Total Suspended Solids, (mg/1) 543 (daily mx) 70 (mx 7-day avg)
007A Total Iron, (mg/1) 14.8 (30 day avg) 3.5 (30 day avg)
007A Total Iron, (mg/1) 21.9 (daily mx) 7.0 (daily mx)
Picketwire Processing, LLC has demonstrated that discharge occurred within 48 hours after measurable precipitation, the
discharge was beyond your control and that there was available pond volume fora 10-yeaz, 24-hour storm event. The
Division believes that Picketwire Processing, LLC. qualifies for the alternate limitations provisions of above referenced
permit, Part I.B.l.d.a thus waiving the limits for total suspended solids and total iron for the above referenced monitoring
period.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact me at (303) 692-3603.
S' ere !
la J.
