BOX 225 <br />February 24 <br />Ms. Carol Russell <br />Reclamation Specialist <br />Mined band Reclamation Division <br />423 Centennial building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Subject: Total Monthly Rainfalls, GEC <br />Dear Carol: <br />303/784-6891 <br />1983 <br />R'CEIVED <br /> <br />MU:ED I_A IJn RFr.L ni~n7n~,i <br />-s <br />Enclosed please find one copy of the actual annual rainfall record for 1982, <br />which was measured at GEC's Tipple area on a week-to-week basis. <br />GEC is now pursuing a realistic approach to securing a reasonable annual <br />rainfall in GEC's Open Pit operation area as well as reclaimed area through <br />actual rainfall measurements. <br />It appears to me that the total annual rainfall in 1982 was unusually high, <br />which was 17.18 inches compared with an average of 12-13 inches per year, <br />for this area particularly the month of August that indicated a total of 7.27 <br />inches of rainfall encountered, which could be fairly explained why GEC's <br />revegetation growth in the reclaimed area was so successful in 1982 and these <br />problems dealing with gullies enlargement and sediment pond storage capacity <br />reduction as well. <br />GEC Minerals, Inc. intends to continue monitoring the rainfall., From time to <br />time.
