Typically, the moderately
permeable sandstone unit, which act as aquifers, ate separated by low permeability shales. In the
exploration area, groundwater moves aorthwest following the dip of the stra[a. The Trout Creek
Sandstone of the Mesa Verde Group constitutes a regional significant groundwater system in the area
and is present below the coal seams at Yoast.
• S.b.6 -The exploration drill holes will be plugged, sealed, and abandoned consistent with applicable
CDMG requirements (Rule 4.07). Seahng and plugging procedures will involve placement of cement
throughout the entire length of the drill hole. An appropriately labeled monument marker will be
placed in the cement plug at ground surface.
S.b.7 -None of the exploration holes drilled, as part of this exploration program, will be developed
as water wells.
ITEM 6
No threatened, endangered, or sensitive species or critical habitats have been identified within the
proposed exploration area.
The locations of the proposed exploration sites are shown on Exhibit 6-4b, 2003 Exploration
Program. A description of the flora and fauna present within the permit area are presented in the
PAP in:
• Tab 10, Vegetation
• Tab 11, Fish and Wildlife
r1
L_J
