14. The specific percentage of clay or sand will depend upon clay mineralogy, size of sand fraction,
• and saturation percentage. Abbreviations include s -sand, M-Cos -medium to coarse sand, s -
loamysand, Iayssandyloam, Iloam, si -silt, sil -silt loam, sicl -silty clay loerri, sic -silly day,
cl -clay loam, sc -sandy clay, c -clay.
15. Very similar to recommendations by Schafer (1979, 1980), USDI-OSMRE (1985a), USDA
(1983), WDEQ (1985), and USDA (1979).
16. Similar to USDI-OSMRE (1985a), USDA (1979) proposes greater than 60% clay.
17. Recommended by MDSL (1983), WDEO (1985), and USDI-OSMRE (1985a). Schafer (1979,
1980) proposes 8. The lower limit recommended by Barth et al. (1981).
18. The actual maximum acceptable molybdenum concentration will depend upon the plant species
proposed in the revegetation plan seed mix and their potential for molybdenum aocumulatan. The
depth of replaced topsoil must also be evaluated.
19. Reommended by MDSL (1983). Barth et al. (1981) and Sutton et al. (1981) recommend
2.0.
• 20. Presented by Peabody (1987)from data extrapolated from Neuman and Munshower (1983). Avalue
of 2 assumes 100% legumes with 2 feet of topsoil while a value of 8 assumes 100% grasses with 2
feet of topsoil. An upper limit of t.0 is proposed by MDSL (1983) and WDEQ (1985). A limit of 0.85
is proposed by Neuman and Munshower (1983) for a site with no topsoil.
21. Proposed by MDSL (1983) and WDEQ (1985).
22. Recommended by USDI-OSMRE (1985a); Schafer (1979, 1980) proposed 2.0.
23. Proposed by WDEQ (1985). The lower limit proposed by Sutton et al. (1981).
24. Recommended by Singleton and Barker (1980).
25. This value proposed by Barth et al. (1981).
26. This value is supported by WDEQ (1985), Smith (1974), and Sutton et al. (1981). Units are tons of
CaCO3 equivalenU1000 tons.
27. These values supported by Sutton et al. (1981) and Lindsay and Novel (1978). Schafer (1 980 )
• proposes 60.
REVISED Auguat 2006 2.D4.6-32
