iii iiiiiiiiiiiii iii
Dan's Pond, Pond 12
Certification of Construction
I Larry M. Reschke, PE, do hereby certify that the construction of Dan's Pond was
constructed in accordance with plans submitted to and approved by the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology as Technical Revision No. 22, Mine Water Treatment
Pond. Guidelines for construction of the pond were the Lincoln DeVore design included
in Appendix 13-5 of our permit application. I personally labored, surveyed and observed
construction during the entire project.
Construction began the third week of November 1997 with excavation of excess material
from the design azea. The east end of the pond was excavated to the subgrade and the
cutoff trench was dug. The exposed subgrade was ripped 18', rock over 8" was
removed, the ripped azea was watered to get approximately the optimum moisture and
the subgrade was wheel compacted and/or sheepsfoot roller compacted. Initial 6" lifts of
fill on the floor, banks and the cutoff trench were spread, watered, rock over 4" removed
by hand, and the fill was compacted. Subsequent fill material was screened prior to
spreading to remove the rock and to better mix the material. The cutoff trench, pond
dam and drainage pipe trench fill were constructed in multiple 6" lifts. The pond bottom
and banks were covered with three 4-6" lifts. Frequent compaction tests were taken to
assure design The dirt work on the pond was completed on December 3, 1997.
Results of the 117 compaction tests and survey data are available at the mine office.
pictures of key construction points aze also available.
/~,~[
2-4~q~
