<br />:. ~- <br /> <br /> <br />WINTER RANCH GRAVEL PIT <br />SECTION V - Reclamation Recommendations <br />Attar excavation of gravel, the area mined will be restored to native <br />vegetative cover. <br />Enough topsoil should be stockpiled in order to plate or backfill any <br />disturbed area with a minimum of at least four (4~ inches of topsoil. <br />All elopes after excavation should be graded to a minimum of 4:1. This <br />will allow Por establishment of permanent vegetative cover. <br />The seedbed should be •a clean and firm as possible prior to planting. <br />It would be de9lrable to use a grass drill equipped with depth bands <br />and packer wheels. <br />A mixture of eight (d) pounds pure live seed to the acre of Barton Waetern <br />wheatgrase and four and one half (4.•6) pounds per acre pure live seed of <br />Vaughn or E1 Reno sideoats prams should be planted. <br />The seeding should be mulched. If a straw or hay mulch is used a minimum <br />of 4000 pounds per acre of sir dry mulch should be used. The mulch would <br />be crimped into the soil following the seeding operation. <br />Any seeding should be done in either early spring or late enough in the <br />fall so that germination will not occur until the next spring.
