During the month of September 2002, DMP 001 and DMP
004 did not discharge. DMP 007 did not exceed any compliance criteria in September 2002.
Third quarter WET monitoring at DMP 007 established a `'pattern of toxicity" to Daphnia
magna. Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Company (P & M Coal) initiated a Preliminary
Toxicity Identification (PTI) as directed in their discharge permit. As a result of the PTI, acute
toxicity is due to total dissolved solids (TDS), caused by calcium sulfate.
Please contact me at (307) 742-0031 with any questions or comments you have regarding
this matter.
Project Engineer
SL:gh
Enclosures
File: 99-144
