Box 147
Fairplay, Colorado 80440
RE: Park County Pits
File Nos.: 77-365, 77-366;
and 80-252
Dear Mr. Freitag:
80-9 through 80-19, inclusive; 80-251
Your additional materials on the above captioned Park County gravel
operations were received by our Division on December 3, 1980, as I re-
quested. Due to my absence at a meeting, the materials were not responded
to within 10 days. Therefore, I am calling all of the new applications
(excluding 77-365 and 77-366) complete at this time and scheduling them
for the January 28-29, 1980 Mined Land Reclamation Board meeting.
In most cases, these applications are not technically complete, nor are
they adequate for Board consideration. At the beginning of January, I
will write a detailed adequacy for each of these pits which should allow
you to give me additional material to make the applications adequate for
Board consideration.
Concerning the other two pits (file nos. 77-365 and 77-366), I have the
following comments:
SULFUR MOUNTAIN PIT (file no.77-365)
1) How can the acreage originally given be 10 and now have been reduced
to 1 acre? I will need a map showing what has been done.
2) Proof of publication has still not been sent to our Division, nor have
the BLM and Huron Investment Co. been notified as adjacent landowners.
3) If the pit is kept open for one season or more and is as small as you
are now saying, the topsoil stockpile must be a relatively permanent
feature and should be planted as per my suggestion in my letter of Sept. 9.
4) Information from the SCS and the Division of Wildlife will have to be
received by our Division before a permit can be issued.
5) The Division must have an actual seed mixture on file in order to con-
sider the permit application adequate.
6) This pit is not among those listed as having Park County zoning approval.
WOODSiDE PARK PIT
1) Is this pit the same one referenced as "Woodside Pit H1" and now given
our file number 80-11? The original acreage was 9.12, and the later
acreage was given as 2.
2) Is there still topsoil available on this site for reclamation?
IIII Il Ally II~M !'.•rv.rr•••r
