The coal bearing sequence of <br />the W1111ms Fork Formation dips approximately 12 <br />degrees to the southwest. There is one northwest <br />trending fault in sec. 2, T. 5 N „ K. 86 W (,)ust ncrth <br />of application boundary), There is no data availa~le <br />on the exact amount of displacement on this fault, or <br />the existence of other faults or any dominant point <br />trends in the area, <br />3. Geomorcholoav <br />Landscape character in and near the three coal lease <br />applications results mostly from moderate folding <br />followed by differential erosion of interbedded hard <br />2nd soft stratigraphic layers of varying thicknesses. <br />4. Paleontoloav <br />The coal-bearing Iles and Williams Fork Formations, <br />overlain in places by the Lerris Shale, both contain <br />fossil leaves, ammonites, and inoceramus clams (within <br />interbedded shales).
